A great post by Kyle - short, sweet and to the point.
I really liked this part, it made me laugh out loud :)
Homer’s “Iliad” and “Odyssey” are epic. Beowulf is epic. The design you saw last night on Dribbble is not epic.
I have seen a lot of this going around, especially in the design community. Someone releases a theme/dribbble/new app or what have you and the instant reaction is Epic, Awesome, Awesomeness, Fantastic, Cool etc. especially by his or her peers. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great getting kudos for all your hard work, but I just feel like for the most part it’s ego stroking. (But that’s a whole other topic.)
My point is, choose your words carefully and take the time to think about why you like/dislike the design. Trust me, (most) designers will appreciate honest feedback instead of the default response we have all become way too accustomed to hearing and saying.
I have FxCamera installed, I downloaded it after a few days of getting my HTC Hero. Very cool - especially love the polaroid and toy camera effects. Each effect has easy to use customizable settings, it’s a little slow to save but the results are pretty impresive.
The only gripe I have is that the phone doesn’t have a flash, so in low light conditions it sucks!
Check out one of the photos I took here.
